The Vice President of Pharmacy Operations will provide executive leadership over high-volume pharmacy fulfillment activities, overseeing both the front and back end of our specialty and non-commercial dispensing operations. This role is central to scaling our integrated pharmacy infrastructure, driving innovation in operational workflow, and ensuring best-in-class performance in quality, compliance, and patient experience. The VP will oversee operations of our accredited specialty pharmacy and will be accountable for sustaining and enhancing a best-in-class specialty pharmacy care model. The VP will lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across all Knipper Health business units to align pharmacy operations with broader enterprise growth objectives, particularly in digital hub services and direct-to-patient models.

Responsibilities

 

Strategic and Operational Leadership

  • Lead and evolve end-to-end pharmacy operations across multiple sites to meet service, quality, and financial goals.
  • Support business expansion in white-label, direct-to-patient (DTP), and Patient Assistance Programs (PAP).
  • Ensure operational readiness and scalability for new client onboarding and product launches.

Pharmacy Oversight – Clinical and Fulfillment Operations

  • Direct day-to-day operations for prescription processing, dispensing, inventory management, cold-chain logistics, and packaging.
  • Implement automation and workflow optimization to improve turnaround time and throughput.
  • Monitor KPIs such as order-to-ship time, accuracy rates, fulfillment SLAs, and cost per script.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen our specialty pharmacy care model, including patient adherence programs, clinical intervention protocols, and pharmacist-driven support.
  • Evaluate and implement care model enhancements that improve patient outcomes, therapy access, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Compliance and Quality

Ensure full compliance with all federal and 50 state pharmacy regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, ACHC, NABP).

  • Collaborate with quality and compliance leadership to drive continuous improvement in standard operating procedures.

Technology and Innovation

  • Partner with IT and vendor teams to implement consolidated and best in class dispensing platforms, IVR enhancements, and system integrations with CRM and digital hub software.
  • Drive adoption of analytics tools (e.g., KADABRA) for performance monitoring and proactive decision-making.

 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor pharmacy directors, managers, supervisors, and frontline staff across multiple locations.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture aligned to Knipper Health’s mission and client service values.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with commercial, clinical, compliance, and patient services teams to ensure seamless coordination across the pharmacy ecosystem.
  • Represent pharmacy operations in client meetings, RFP responses, and audit preparations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy operations, fulfillment, or pharmaceutical services.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations in a regulated, high-volume environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing departmental budgets.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PharmD, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience leading operations for specialty pharmacy, PAPs, or manufacturer services (hub, DTP, or white-labeled models).

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-state pharmacy operations with precision and agility.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to build alignment across clinical, compliance, tech, and commercial teams.
  • Track record of driving innovation, including automation, data use, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace in a growing, client-focused organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to travel out of state - 25%
  • Noise and/or vibrations exposure
  • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds

 This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment.  May have occasional high stress when dealing with customers/clients.
