Overview

The Sr. Manager, Pharmacy Inventory, is responsible for the effective leadership and oversight of pharmacy inventory operations across all fulfillment locations. This includes inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance (FDA, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, URAC, and NABP), cycle counts, reconciliation, automation support, and system configuration. The role ensures optimal inventory levels to support pharmacy throughput and service goals. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Fulfillment Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of quality, accuracy, and compliance across all pharmacy inventory operations.
  • Demonstrate and promote CHART values: Caring, Honesty, Accountability, Respect, and Trust.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, URAC, NABP, and state pharmacy regulations related to inventory control, record accuracy, and product reconciliation.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory systems in inspection-ready condition at all times.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs aligned with pharmacy inventory best practices and organizational goals.
  • Empower team members to take ownership and accountability for inventory-related functions.
  • Optimize storage and inventory levels to support pharmacy fulfillment throughput and service levels.
  • Develop tools and processes for proactive review of inventory status, aging, and disposition.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy operations to manage all required cycle counts and ensure consistent execution.
  • Track and report Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) and other quality metrics; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support automation systems and collaborate with IT to ensure inventory tools and reporting systems function as expected.
  • Lead, coach, and develop inventory team members; oversee staffing, performance management, and training.
  • Partner cross-functionally with fulfillment, compliance, and client services teams to support operational goals.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience in pharmacy operations or inventory management considered

 

Business Experience: Five to ten years of inventory experience. Experience in the pharmaceutical field is preferred. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience overseeing multi-site teams.
  • Expertise in pharmacy inventory systems, automation platforms, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills for reconciliation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, OMS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive continuous improvement.
